Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about BrinkByte — how it works, how it's deployed, and what it can do for your environment.

General
What does BrinkByte actually do?

BrinkByte turns video into operational insights. Our computer vision platform analyses footage from sources such as CCTV systems, drones, body cameras, and other video feeds to reveal what is happening across real-world environments. These insights help organisations understand activity, improve safety, and optimise how their spaces operate.

Who is BrinkByte built for?

BrinkByte is designed for organisations responsible for managing physical environments. This includes local governments, transport operators, infrastructure managers, retailers, manufacturers, and commercial property teams that need better visibility into how people, vehicles, and assets move through their spaces.

Is BrinkByte Australian owned?

Yes. BrinkByte is an Australian-owned and operated company. The platform is developed and supported locally, and customer data is hosted within Australia to support national data sovereignty requirements.

Technology & Platform
Do I need to install new cameras?

In most cases, no. BrinkByte works with existing CCTV or IP camera infrastructure. A small edge computing device is deployed alongside the camera to process the video stream and extract structured data without replacing your current equipment.

What video sources and camera types are supported?

BrinkByte integrates with most standard IP and CCTV cameras that provide an RTSP video stream. The platform can also analyse video from drone cameras, body cameras, and recorded footage, allowing insights to be generated from multiple types of video sources.

What hardware does BrinkByte run on?

BrinkByte runs on GPU-enabled edge devices powered by NVIDIA Jetson technology. These devices perform computer vision inference directly at the camera location, enabling fast processing and reducing reliance on cloud connectivity.

Can BrinkByte detect custom objects or behaviours?

Yes. BrinkByte models can be trained to detect objects, vehicles, behaviours, or safety events specific to your environment. This allows organisations to tailor the system to their operational needs rather than relying only on generic detection models.

Privacy & Data
Does raw video leave my premises?

Video processing occurs locally on the edge device. A live stream can be viewed remotely through the platform for system calibration and configuration, but video is not recorded or stored. Frames are processed in real time and discarded, while only anonymised event data and telemetry are retained for analysis.

Is the data secure and private?

Yes. BrinkByte is designed with privacy and security as core principles. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, and the platform architecture ensures that only structured, anonymised telemetry data is retained for analytics.

Is BrinkByte compliant with Australian privacy law?

Yes. BrinkByte is designed to align with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles. The platform focuses on extracting operational insights rather than collecting personal information from video streams.

Deployment
Can I trial the solution before scaling up?

Yes. BrinkByte offers pilot deployments that allow organisations to validate a use case in a real-world environment before committing to a broader rollout. This helps confirm value, refine requirements, and plan future scaling.
